I just wanted to tell my two daughter in laws, Heather & Misty, thank you so much for allowing me to have a week with your adorable daughters. It was a time of true bonding and fun and enjoying each other. It far exceeded my expectation of spending a week with these 3 fabulous girls!! It was not baby sitting, or watching them or just letting them hang out. It was truly time spend with me, their gramma. I want to tell you that you are raising wonderful daughters of God and you should be very proud!! I love these girls and hope to continue this new tradition next year and many years to come!! (As long as they allow me and want to spend time with me!)

A week with Gramma, Day 1~ Beach

Well, I came up with this idea to start a tradition with my granddaughters. This is what I came up with...It all started when John wanted to go on a fishing trip with the 'boys', meaning him, Jeff, Marc, Jeff Toki, & Clark. Well, turned out, Jeff Toki & Clark couldn't go, so it ended up being John and the 2 boys. (I say boys like they are still my little guys, never mind they are bigger than their dad! and men over 30, and when did I give permission for that to happen??) So anyway, I thought it would be a great idea for me to have Jeff's two older girls and Marc' s oldest girl come to stay with me during the 'fishing' week.(Since I wasn't invited to go along, cuz I would out fish them!!that's why!) So, Jeff, Brittnie & Brooke flew out here and Marc put Taylor on a plane down to me and we picked them up on Sat. June 27th.
So, on to my tradition~ One week during the summer, granddaughters that have turned 8 (or soon to be in the coming months) come out and spend a week with me while the guys go do their newly found 'fishing' trip week. I took tons of pics and had a theme day for each day and am going to make a memory book for them. shhhh, don't tell them, it's a secret! But here is a glimpse of our time together! It will be posted out of order of course. so I am going to post the days one at a time. Side note~Amy joined us at the beach but didn't spend the night.

A year ago tomorrow my dad passed away. Even though it was a very sad day, I know he went to a happier place and is comfortable and enjoying being with his mom, dad, brother, and grandparents. My dad was a character and a half! He was fun and always had a hobby. Different ones all the time. If it was out there, he tried it. He rode motorcycles and took me on numerous day trips with him. (Mom was always nervous and made him call if he was going to be a minute late) He scuba dived and I was always there at the beach with him. ( I never did it with him, too afraid to do that, and was little). He golfed and I was his caddy. Loved doing that, they have these golf ball washers and I loved to used that little machine! The things that make a little girl happy?? He loved cars! And that is an understatement. You name the car, we probably owned it. He was an extreme neat freak. Always looked immaculate and was a very handsome man! I miss my dad and love him and wait to see him again one day!

Our Nebraska trip

Last Thursday we went to Omaha to visit with Jeff's family and attend Heather's graduation. We were able to sneek in a church history tour on the way and we had so much fun! We were in 4 states in one day! Such beautiful country!! Not so much in the dead of winter. So here some pics of our trip before my camera died. Yes, I said died, and why not, I ask you? It was only charged 2 weeks before that, one would think it would stay charged a bit longer, but then, maybe, no possible not! Was not very happy with that, but whatcha gonna do??

Ok~ I was in kinda a hurry to get these posted, and didn't get to say all I intended, so.......Going to these places was so fabulous!! We felt the spirit there and it was just cool to be in sacred places that are now so real to me. After teaching in RS the lessons of these places, it was nice to actually see and be there. Enjoyed it so very much. Heather told me that next time we come out we should go to Navoo (sp??), and so we just may do that! She said it's about 6 hours drive from Omaha. They live by Winter Quarters and we have been there a few times. Need to go to their temple next time!

Last Weekend John and I went up to visit the grandkids and their mommy and daddy. Ashton and Logan have birthdays a week apart and they decided to share them together. We came up to celebrate with them. I worked my am kinder day and then left after the kids went home to catch our plane. When we got there, Ashton likes to play coy with me, just ignoring me, whatever Ashton.

So..... Taylor serenaded us with her guitar. Not too bad. However, turns out she doesn't really want to practice so it is harder to play without the practicing~Keep practicing Tay!!!

We had a fun Easter. We had Sarah's family, Aaron Escher's family, some Friends from our ward, the Draneys, my mom and later, Amy's family joined us for an Easter egg hunt and dessert, Jada's birthday.

Easter egg hunts are the best! We are off and running to find the perfect eggs! Mom's helping the little girls to find their eggs......Go Juliana and Chloe! Isaac was the only boy. Luke was sick and stayed home with his daddy.

(Sarah took him to the Dr.s today, had 2 ragging ear infections, poor baby!)

This didn't stop Isaac from scoring the most eggs found!! Just look at the intentness on his face.

Wednesday morning, 6am, yes, I said AM,
John and I took the missionaries to Redlands Temple.

Went to my school to clean and organize to get ready for the rest of the year,

only 11 weeks, not that I am counting or anything.

Cleaned up around the koi pond.

Took a huge lantana plant out that was choking everything else out.

Looks so much better, ahhhhhhhhh.

Then last night I decided my bedroom needed a little face lift.

So I went with black and white.

I love it!!!

I even had 3 black and white pictures I took,

from one of our trips to Mammoth, to put above our bed.

So there ya have it. No trips to anywhere fancy, just relaxed and did whatever the mood struck me. Of course, it's never long enough, especially when one is used to being on year round, or single track, with a month at a time off. This is the first year of traditional, kinda hard to get used to, but what are ya gonna do???? Like I said...only 11 weeks, then, 2 months off!!!!

P.S. so Sarah & Misty, what do you think of the colors??

Happy Birthday Jeff !! Sarah and Jeff took the family down to Anaheim to Embassy Suites. It's down by Disneyland and Marc and Misty stay there when they go there. It has an indoor pool and full breakfast. They had a great time, and are here for his birthday dinner. Jeff is a wonderful asset to our family and we are so glad he is part of us! He is a great dad and husband to his sweet family.

So, it is finally Spring!! AND spring break! How much better can it get?? We had both kinder classes all week last week and it wasn't too bad. We had things pretty much under control, too much for them to do to get into to much trouble, except of course the few that will always find a way! Just wanted to check in and bore some of ya ta death! John and I were going to go somewhere, but...hmmm, he has theapy, Drs. appt. temple, meetings, etc, you get the point. I was going to go visit Marc, Mist & the kids. They aren't off though, and the air prices were not that great. and I kinda just want to chill. Maybe, if the weather gets really nice, we can go to the beach for a day. maybe....Well, I love reading all your blogs out there, you keep me entertained, that's for sure! Have a great Spring!!!!

I taught my RS lesson today. It was on Missionary work. I looked at my lesson last month and when I saw that it was on missionary work, my head was filled with tons of ideas as to ways to teach it. I had special speakers come in to give parts of the lesson. I had our missionaries come in and tell us what characteristics missionaries should have to be effective missionaries, and what should a missionary teach and how they should teach it. Then I had our ward mission leader tell what ways can we actively seek opportunities to share the gospel with others and how we can involve our families in missionary work. I also asked one of our Sister Missionaries to speak on what ways has the Holy Ghost guilded your efforts to share the Gospel. She told a great personal story. My final speaker was Sister Barajas, (Coral Ward-Barajas), a return missionary to talk to us . The speakers were fabulous and they absolutly fulfilled my vision for my lesson. For my handouts, I made missionary tag magnets, that turned our rater fabulous I might say! And passed out life savers and told them to save a soul. I was very pleased with today and just wanted to share it.

Life as a Teacher......

Life as a teacher....I've decided I could pretty much write a book about my class and it would be on the best sellers list! Most likely as a comedy!! Today as my precious darlings were working so diligently on a phonics page, which is cutting and gluing letters to make CVC words, pig, fig, dig, using the short vowel helper i. At the end of this page is a sentence strip that they have to cut and glue words in order. ***Note here...I have the example up in front of them....One of my cuties comes up and brings her finished product. Not only were none of the CVC words placed in the proper order, her sentence was hilarious. There was a picture of a dog, and these words; a pit, dig, can. I can't even remember the sentence, but in the 3 squares she was suppose to place pig, or fit, or fig, was this......the picture of the dog, the p and the i. So I interpreted it as dog pee. It was funny at the time, and maybe you had to be there, or maybe you need to be a kinder teacher to get it, I don't know, maybe I am so tired anything is funny in my class. (So if you think it was a little funny let me know) Also, I will ask my kids to put their hands on their head if they hear me, or something like that, so today, I say, put your finger on your nose if you hear me. And of course, one has to put his finger IN his nose! AND of course without missing a beat, I say, NOT IN YOUR NOSE, on your nose. (That would be my spitter) Oh and on Friday, he hit someone, why I ask him? Oh, I don't want him to sit by me. Well, that will do it! OH I NEED and am ready for spring vacation!!! Let's see....13 school days left! I can do this, can't I????

Hmmm, update on one of my previous little fellas

OK, I just had the Longest SST ever! 2 and a half hours!! (for you non -teachers~ student study team, meeting with principal, teachers, parent, etc...) Anyway, this was on the little guy that his mom reamed me in Dec. And then her son was quickly moved into another class, thank you very much, cuz I was so done with her! She was OK throughout the meeting, until the last few minutes when of course she had to bring up the 'incident' of that day. OK, let me tell you how she saw this; "she came into my room and found her 'precious' crying while the rest of the class was eating lunch and I wouldn't let him eat lunch" WOW, that sure sounds like something I would do, huh???? After she gave her account of the 'incident' I was asked what really happened. Well, she was never IN my room and she didn't see her little guy until HE decided he wanted to go get lunch. AT which time he saw mommy and jetted to her instead of going to the end of the line with his class for lunch, which they had just left for! I told them he was never in trouble and was sitting in the back at his own free will. She apologized and admitted that she 'jumped' to conclusions and just saw her little boy crying while the rest of the class was going to lunch. My VP said it was too bad she felt so bad for so long on a miscommunication. Whatever, I am over it, and I think she may be too. She still got really angry at the 'new teacher' cuz she doesn't want him on a behavior contract. Sorry lady! We have 20 kids to control, yours cannot just do as he pleases like he does at home! How lame is that? You know~ kids are great, it's the parents of some of these little guys that makes ya wonder! OH, and the 'cutie' I have now~~he is spitting in my students faces, so nice!! And I have yet another one that is on a behavior contract because he cannot shut his mouth or sit still. He came in yesterday looking like he had about 1 hour sleep. He looked terrible, big ol' bags and circles around his eyes. I asked him what time he went to bed, and he said 8. I said those aren't 8:00 eyes. More like midnight eyes! Boy, I tell ya, what do these parents think??? I just don't get it. I just want to take them home with me and take care of them. (Not so much spitting boy though). Thanks for letting me share!!! Teachers rule!!!!!!!!

Our New Bishop

Well, I have been waiting for three weeks now to post this! John was sustained as the Bishop of the Terra Vista Ward today. Wow, I still can't believe it! He will be so great! It was a fabulous Sunday and weekend. We had our family, Marc and Misty, Sarah and Jeff, and Amy, (Clark was home so very ill!! We missed you Clark!) and John's brother and sister in law, Jim & Debbie, Debbie's parents, John's mom and step father, Amy's inlaws, the Beesleys, 11 out of 15 grandkids, (one of which just now took a blue marker to ALL my walls and doors and pictures, so I am NOT HAPPY right now) I am ignoring it and letting the mom's deal with it!!!! So as I was saying.....We are all excited and know that he will do the best job as our new Bishop. So now since he is retired, he now has a full time job. Working for the Lord! What better job could you ask for?? I know all the members will be very supportive of him. I am proud of him and will look forward to sitting with my best friends, Jim and Marie for the next 6 years!! Love you honey!

A Good Monday!!

Well, Today was a great day! We are off to a great start to the week. 4 days to go!! I asked one of my coworkers how many days til June and she told me this: We get a 4 day weekend in Feb. and it is a short month, 1 week off in March and none in April, this will be our long haul! 1 day in May and then 2 weeks in June and off!!! Hmmm, I think I can deal. And I found out that we may be adding a pm class, which means, I get to pass on 2 of my kidos. Lets see, can I pick??????!!! Probly (misspell intentional) not, BUT, on the other hand, I got word of one of my kidos is moving on Friday. This could be a good sign too! I, of course, will have to most likely keep my new little cherub, and only because he couldn't handle another change and he shouldn't!!! (It still would be nice for me though). Maybe my new little Spanish speaking only girl. So we shall see. I will keep you posted on my fun adventures in kinder!

WOW When is June going to be here??????

OK, I am sooooooooo exhausted. Three weeks ago I got a new student. And if you remember the one I got rid of, he is a jewel compared to this one!!!!! OH MY! I never know what is going to happen each day as I walk into class. This little boy has been through the mill and back to say the least. None of his actions are his fault. He has been in 4 foster care homes that weren't beneficial to him at all. But that aside: He is making me work, let me tell ya! He wants to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it! Need I say more??? I also got a new little girl last week.. First time in school. No English. BUT, the sweetest little thing ever. So when is June coming??? I am ready! I am so happy it's Friday!! Now John & I are going out to dinner with our bestest friends ever~ Jim & Marie. So later! Of to start my much needed weekend!

On Monday, John had surgery on his shoulder. He is doing OK, in a little pain, but overall, is dealin'. He will be in a sling for 6 weeks and can't move it for 4 weeks. He is really thrilled about that! Yesterday, Amy and the girls came over to visit Grampa. It made him feel much better!

Today is my 40+16 birthday! It sounds a little better than saying the real age out loud, don'cha think? So of course, school started back today and I had to go to work on my b-day after being off for 2 weeks. It was a good day though. The kids were really good and I even had a new student today. He actually has blue eyes!!! AND blond hair!! looks like he belongs to me! hehehe. My teacher partner gave me a $50 gift card to my fav place to shop! Anne Taylor LOFT. Can't wait to spend it. I came home to these beautiful roses from my fab husband. The best husband in the whole wide world. Also, thanks to you facebook friends that said Happy Birthday, you all are very special to me!!! We have Sarah's boys and we are going to go out to dinner in a bit to Vinces Speghetti. I have been craving it for ever, so yummy for my tummy here we come! So, see ya'll soon!

We had a pretty quiet Christmas this year. We had Christmas Eve up the hill with John's family, mom, brother and their families, along with Sarah and Jeff's family. Amy & Clark were with his family, Marc & Misty stayed at their home, and Jeff & Heather stayed in NE. SOOOO, next year should be all my kiddos here!! I love that, that is what family is all about!! Togetherness!!! We had a cute rendition of Jesus' birth on Christmas Eve with all the grandkids. Very cute, even though my niece's little 2 year old screamed through the most of it. We got the true meaning anyway. Chrismas day Sarah and Amy's families came for dinner and we had a great time. The next day John & I decided to take a trip up to see Marc, Misty and the kids. We had so much fun!!! We went lazer tagging, shopping, park playing, shopping, oh, and did I say shopping?? hehehehe, Misty & I LOVE to shop up there. Their stores are sooooo much better than here. Anyway, thanks for the fabulous time Marc and Misty!!!

Well, the turkey is gone and everything is cleaned up, company is gone and all that is left are these adorable pictures! We had a busy and fun week. Misty came down last Sunday with the kids and stayed at Sarah's until Wednesday. Then she drove down here and met up with a high school friend for lunch. Marc flew in around 5:30. On Thanksgiving day, we had all the families except for Jeff's family. Missed you guys!!! We had turkey and all the trimmings! Nothin left out! We all enjoyed each other and I hope they all had fun here too! Families are such a great blessing and I am so happy they want to come to gramma & grammpa's, hmmm, I am thinking next year we should have it at Marc & Misty's! Whatcha think?? Today is Clark's birthday and I wanted to spotlight him for just a moment! Clark is our comedian in the family. He is always joking around and making us all laugh. Jeff is also, so when the two of them are together, there is no stopping them! He (and Amy)have 3 of the most beautiful girls, and I am honored to be called their gramma. Clark is a very hard worker, in providing for his family. He is a great dad! Amy adores him and we do too!! We are glad you are in our family! Today is Mallory's 1st birthday! She is walking and havin' a good time. She got lots of fun toys and nice clothes. Amy had everyone at her house and we ate subway, fruit and chips. It was yummy!! Saw Twilight tonight!! Was fun to see. Went with Amy, Cori, Tina, Liv, Christine, Crystal & Brianna. And yes, the book was way better. I am hoping to see if they make the other books into movies. It should be quite interesting to see how they do some of the acting and special effects if the other ones if they do. Sarah and her friends came down tonight to see it at Ontario Mills. She and Jeff went to see it last night at the midnight showing too.

Well, now that everyone is going Christmas on me, I guess I need to get with it already! Geez, not even Thanksgiving and people have Christmas going on!! Anyway, This is a short one tonight, just wanted to put it out there. AND~~ Friday is the day!! Going to see Twilight with Amy and some of my teacher friends!! And for those of you keeping up with my saga at school; the little guy loves me so much!! AND in front of mom, hugs me and misses me! HA, take that mom! Anyway, mom still thinks we are out to get her, whatever! follow the rules mom and no one will get hurt! Two weeks ago, we went up to see Isaac and Luke play flag football. I have a feeling that this is the beginning of many years of football games we will be watching. Isaac is very focused in the one picture, as his dad told him he would give him a dollar for every flag he captures. He got two that day. Last Sat. one of them made touchdowns. I can't remember which one, I am sure Sarah will let me know. We are going up next Sat. to watch again. On the field they are # 7 & 9. They are really cute to watch. It reminds me of the soccer games with Jeff and Marc. Oh those were the days!!!

A little update on the little guy from yesterday: Well, mom managed to get her little man to school on time and pick him up on time today! Imagine that! It is possible, what do ya know. So, he was OK, until after recess and he had to go back into the his new class while we were still out playing. After we went in, the pm teacher came in to get me to go and talk to the little guy cuz he was hysterical and saying, "I love Mrs. Stokes, I miss her, I love her." over and over and would not stop. So I went over and , yep, that was what he was doing and saying. He grabbed onto me and hugged me and cried, and pretty much tore my heart out. So I settled him down and got him to work with the 'new' teacher, and then at lunch, he saw me again and it started all over again. Poor little guy. Mom is such a pain!! Just look what she does to him. The best thing was, his 'new' teacher told mom about his situation and told her how I had to come and calm him and reassure him everything was OK, and she said nothing. So, we have 4 days off and we will see what Wednesday will bring. I will let you know!!

Well, I just had the worse day of my teaching career! I have dealt with a student in my class that refuses to cooperate, follow rules, adjust to school, etc..... since day 1!! Mom is in denial and after having meeting after meeting with her on numerous times with admin. she came after me today and verbally attacked me, in spanish of course, and even though I couldn't understand her exact words, I heard her loud and clear!! (as did others that were around) Finally, another teacher went into the office and told them that I need an administrator out there ASAP. As they came out I left and told whomever was around, "I was done with that mom!!" It was her kid or me that was going to leave! Well, of course my fabulous administrators came in and told me, "well, it sure isn't you, she is nuts!" I agreed!! What it boils down to is this, her kid is a spoiled rotten kid that is allowed to do as he pleases and gets away with whatever at home, so as to not create problems with mom, and then he thinks he can do it in my class as well. I say NO! you have to follow rules just like the rest of the class. He doesn't like to do that! So he gets in trouble and mom thinks I need to be PATIENT with him, HELLO, it's NOVEMBER already, been patient enough! I wouldn't allow this behavior with my own grandkids, and I LOVE THEM!!! Anyway, Principal put him in another class and I know his life will become even more hellish, cuz, this teacher speaks spanish and will not put up with him or mom and their ridiculous excuses. So we will see how long he actually stays in our school. Cuz, by the way, he is an inter district transfer, with 12 tardies thus far in the year!!! Well, thanks for reading and sharing my anguish today! Tomorrow should be a breeze!! Oh, and I might add, when mom picked up her little 'angel', she gave me the dirtiest looks ever, whatever, go get a real life lady!
SO I am off to help John at the blood bank, later!

Taylor's special day!! Oct. 11, 2008~ Baptized on her b-day!

Friday morning, John & I flew up to Marc and Misty's for Taylor's 8th b-Day and her baptism. We had a ton of fun! Misty & I went shopping while the kids were in school and then around 1:30, we all went to Taylor's class and gave her class treats for her b-day. Taylor didn't know when we were coming up, only that we were. So, when I showed up at her class, she was very surprised! When Ethan and Taylor got home, she wanted to go to Claim Jumper for her b-day dinner. It was very good!! Good choice Tay! Later that evening, Sarah and her family came up and spent the week end with all of us. It was a very happy house with 8 grandkids all together! Marc and Misty have a 4100 sq foot home, so it accommodated us well!! On Sat. Taylor was baptised and it was very sweet. Nice and small and mostly just family, with about three other families there. I gave a talk on the Holy Ghost and Misty put me on the program as chorister. Umm, never did that before. I didn't do too badly. I don't think anyone noticed. The kids played in the sprinklers and we went to the most awesome pumpkin patch ever! We went there last year when we went up for Tay's b-day. Thanks Marc and Mist for a great time! We came home Sunday night around 11. Had a nice bumpy landing from all the wind, and landed coming in toward the east. Yeah, don't like that! Too many turns, my tummy didn't care for that! Well, 3 weeks ago we were on our way to Omaha to our grandaughter, Brooke's baptism, and now we are off again up to sacramento area to go to our other grandaughter, Taylor's baptism. I just can't believe how fast they all grow up. Our oldest grandaughter, Brittnie is going to be 10 in January! How dare she! Her dad was just 10, what is going on?? Time just keeps marching on, and it just doesn't care if we want to slow down at all! Anyway, Jeff and Marc have beautiful girls and I am so proud to be their gramma! I can't wait to go up and see Taylor be baptized. It will aactually be on her 8th birthday! So very special. We are very blessed to have children that teach their children the importance of the gospel and the rightous way to live their lives. Great job kids!!! You done good!!!

Well, I can't believe my little girl is 30 today!! Sarah and her darling family came over for dinner with Amy and Clark and their darling little girls. We had BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, baked beans, salad, cantaloupe, pineapple and Amy made her a birthday cake and I made homemade chocolate ice cream. It was tasty! Sarah got a new camera and was taking pictures like crazy and she will blog them on her site. I only got one on my camera. Anyway, I can remember the day Sarah was born, like it was yesterday, it was wasn't it???? Wow how time flies by. It is so hard to believe that my little girl has 4 children of her own, and one in 1st grade! Geez, I remember sending Jeff to 1st grade, wasn't that just the other day??? My how the time slips by, I just want to tell all you young mommies out there, (like you are all reading this) cherish all the moments you have, each day, even the "won't this day ever end days", You will miss it one day! You will look back and say, where is my little boy? Where is my little girl?? They grow up so incredibly fast! Once they grow up though, they then become your best friends!!! I love each and every one of my kids and I consider them my bestest friends ever!!! I am so proud of the fabulous people they are and that they all have the gospel in their lives and are teaching it every day to their little families. Happy birthday Sarah, my little princess! Well, we just got back from Omaha and I have a few pics to share! We took Haylee, Amy's oldest girl, with us this time. We started off on Thursday morning, nice and early, 6:20 am and flew to Las Vegas and then on to Omaha. We arrived there at 1:30ish. They are 2 hours ahead. So here we go!

I did it!!!!!!!!!

OK, well, I finally have a minute! To all of you who think where I am in my fun life means extra time, well, you are so very wrong! There is working, being with hubby, working, babysitting grandkids, working, shopping, grandkids, shopping, cleaning, visiting with our kids, shopping, AND reading the TWILIGHT series!!!! I am finished and it was so much fun and such a great escape! And for me to read 4 novels of this magnitude in the space of 4 months, is about as big as me getting my bachelors degree!! Loved it and Sarah, you need to read it!!! Get busy, I have them all!!!! I am starting the Host, and everyone says it is hard to get into, so with that in mind I am trying to get into it. Also, I got my first of the year illness!! I have a crappy cold and I took today off to feel better. I went to school yesterday and I was so sick, I hope I didn't get them sick, however, they are the ones I probably got it from in the first place. Anyway, if you looked onto Misty or Aprils or Sarah's page, you know that we did a little babysitting for our fabulous kids! And what a great job John did with the boys while I was working!! He wins grammpa of the year!!! We had Ashton and Logan from Sunday to Friday and Sarah had Ethan from Sunday til Wednesday, then John went up to get not only Ethan, but Luke as well. And the boys were really good!!! They ate good and slept good and got along very well. Of course there were moments, they're boys for cryin out loud! But I love each and every one of them!!! I didn't get as many shots of them cuz my camera was at school and here are some of Amy's cuties too.

School is about to start for me, we start on Monday, which is actually an orientation for our kinders. Right now I am going a little bit crazy. Our school has implemented 3 new things for our curriculum, 1. new writing program 2. standards plus program and 3. new math adoption. That is so swell! First of all, let me tell you, as for kinder we have 4 hours with the kids, 45 mins is recess and lunch time. Language arts is 2 hrs, math 30 min, ELD 30 min, Universal Access 30 min, standards plus 24 min. & social studies and science???? So, count up the time and I ask you or anyone, where is the time?????????? So I am freakin out just a bit cuz I don't know how to fit this all in and do reading and music and art, and just plain kinder stuff??? I am having a stress attack right now. I will calm down, soon, maybe. I had a fabulous meeting on Wed. morning, and a Buy Back day ALL day today and tomorrow, SAT morning, a math training!! Sooooo fun for me right now. I have to say, blogging this does help me to get it off my chest a bit. So whoever reads this, thanks for listening. Well, on our way home from mammoth, John and I stopped by Sarah's because she is right off the 395. We dropped off some fish we had caught and decided to bring home Juliana. I guess you could say we traded 10 fish for one! heheeee, she would be a mermaid. Anyway, the next day Sarah called and needed 'daddy' cuz her car wouldn't start. Dead battery. So daddy, went up to rescue his little girl and fix her car and then brought home Luke. The two of them were very good and fun to have here. They swam in the spa and played the Wii and rode on their scooter. Yesterday was Isaacs 6th b-day and they decided to take him to Lego Land. Daddy, talked Sarah into leaving Jada with us so they could have a better time with the three kids. She had a fun time playing and goofin off.

Well, today John decided to go and buy a bike rack for our car and we took a trip down to Newport Beach and rode our bikes all afternoon. It was a blast!! We rode to the end of Balboa and then back and over to where all the arcades and restaurants are and partook of a fabulous Balboa Bar. Then we rode down to Newport pier and down to 36th street, which is as far as you can ride, south. Then we rode back to the pier and crossed the street to the Crab Cooker for dinner. John had a fish-ka- bob, and I had the crab cakes which were excellent!!! Yummmmmieeeeee!!!!! then we rode back to 11th street and loaded the bikes and came home. John and I jumped out of the car, did I say jumped?? I mean, climbed out, we were so sore!! Can't wait til morning when I can't get outta bed. Anyway, we want to do it again soon!!! Oh, and of course, what else but, ummm, it rained on us too. Doesn't it just figure?? The middle of August and we finally decide to go down for a bike ride and it rains! What ever! It was still tons of fun.

We just came back from a fabulous vacation! We spent 8 days in Mammoth and 2 days in Tahoe. We fished, hiked, took pictures, ate, went on the gondola up to the top of Mammoth Mountain, drove around and saw lakes and streams, and beautiful scenery. On Friday, we met up with Marc's family in Tahoe and had a great time. I had never been there and I was surprised how big that lake is and how many people were there! Way too crowded for me! I think I have had one of the best summer vacations ever, aside from the beginning when my dad passed away. I met up with a few of my childhood friends that I grew up with and that was interesting. We had our Pioneer Day celebration last night at the stake center. There were booths set up with guns from the 1800's or earlier, music from that era, doll making, blacksmith, panning for gold, and some posters exhibits. Dinner was good, with pulled pork burgers, corn on the cob, cole slaw, and beans, with pies for dessert. We had a fun time and saw many friends. We sat with the Denkers who brought Melanie's sweeties. We brought Amy's sweetie, Haylee. They were home with Chloe who was running a nice fever! Haylee made a doll for Chloe and herself. When we took it to her, she was so happy. Her fever had broke and she was smiling and it was so good to see her happy again.

This was Jeff and Heather's last full day with us and we went to the beach. We had a ton of fun and everyone loved it. We played in the water, ate, played in da sand, ate, read, ate, flew kites, ate, and just relaxed! Jeff's family left for their long trip home on Friday morning. They went up to Sarah's and spent the day and traveled at night, which makes me so very nervous!! They will stay with her brother in Utah on Sat. and travel again through Sat. night back to Nebraska. They didn't want to go home, they are trying to find employment here so they can come live here again. I hope they find it! Drive carefully!!!

Today the 'boys' went fishin'. Well, aside from the fact that they charged them $15 a head to fish, and lied about the 'good' fishing, I think they had a good time. The paper stated they would get their limit by 10am, and the girl that came around to collect $ said, yeah, well, new management and he likes to lie about the fishing. Nice huh??!!! I have been the luckiest gramma this Summer! Our families came to stay with us to attend my fathers memorial service and then stay through John's retirement parties. Heathers family has been going between our house and Sarahs. Misty is here now and Marc flies in tonight. Jeff flies in tomorrow. We have been very busy as one can imagine with this many grandkids, ages 7months - 9 yrs. Today we went swimming at Marie's. She has been very gracious to let my kidos use their pool. On the 4th of July we had a great time with family. In the morning Amy, her girls and I went to the all states parade in Ontario. We have made it our annual thing to do in the morning of the 4th. In the afternoon, John and I went to Sarah's for a fabulous BBQ and fireworks. They aren't illegal in Adelanto yet, I think there were more fireworks in her neighborhood than at the Quakes! It was fun and we told her we would come back next year!!

John's Retired!!!

On June 30th, 2008, John retired from the CHP. A retirement luncheon was held for him at Lucille's BBQ at Victoria Gardens. He was presented with a nice picture that one of the officers put together for him of items that were his. His badge, guns, pins, CHP patch, stripes, ETC. Check out the pic I placed on here. All of our kids were able to attend, which made it that much more special.

Today we said good bye to dad, it was a celebration of his life here on earth. The service was held in Ventura with many family and friends in attendence. The Navy was there to present the flag to my brother, Rich, and the CHP was there to present me with the California Flag. A very nice pastor gave a talk about our dad, then I spoke, then Rich, his wife Dawn, dad's CHP motor partner, Dave Rees, and two of Rich's friends. There was a reception later at Rich and Dawn's home, and it was very nice. The following is the talk I shared:

Our dad passed away after a 2 year battle with throat cancer. We were with him when he peacefully left this world. Dad is in a better place now. I believe he was welcomed home with open arms by his mom, dad, brother and grandparents. He will be greatly missed by those he left behind, but I believe in life after death and I know I will see him again.
I had a great childhood with fond memories. My dad and mom were kind and loving and always there for me. Some things I remember doing with my dad as a litter girl were; going on long motorcycle rides to the beach or mountains, where mom gave dad specific instructions to call if he were going to later than he said, or she would assume we were in a crash and she would call the police, he did call her if we were late. Also going golfing and being his caddy, my favorite thing to do was wash the golf balls in the little washing machines that were on the course. Going to the beach while dad scuba dived, and going with him to clean pools and swimming in the pools after they were clean.
Dad had this thing for cars and we never knew what kind of car he would come home in. I think we had every kind of car there was.
One thing I remember in my teen years, while dating my husband John, it seemed like I was always grounded for one thing or another. John worked at 31 flavors ice cream, and that was the one thing dad loved. So in order to see John, I would entice dad to have John stop by after work and bring him his favorite ice cream. It always worked.
When John and I were engaged, we were planning our wedding and dad would try to get us to elope and take the money instead of putting it toward a wedding. He even told us he would supply the ladder; mind you we had a one story.
In 1974, our first son, Jeff, was born and 5 months later, dad had his first son with his wife Jackie. Due to complications with Jackie’s delivery, I brought my new little brother, Rich, home from the hospital. Well, having a 5 month old and a new born were very challenging to say the least. And after a few weeks, I called dad and told him he had to take over.
Dad had many jobs until 1957, when he became a police officer for Covina PD.
In 1961, he then joined the CHP and rode motors. He retired in 1981 on a medical from the gun shot he received in 1968.
Dad has been there, done that, and had an interesting life. He was open to many new and interesting ways to enrich his life.
During the later years, dad and I had our ups and downs. With his near death experience nearly 2 years ago, of which I am forever grateful to Rich for being there to actually save our dad’s life, dad did some soul searching and realized his family was important and we renewed our relationship. I am so grateful for the time we had together these past 2 years.
I loved my dad even when he was not so loveable at times, and I miss him and hope to see him one day with the rest of my family that has gone on ahead. RIP daddy.

Richard T. Rosin
1931 - 2008

Richard T. Rosin, 76, of Oak View, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He was born Dec. 26, 1931, in Gresham, Ore., and had been a resident of Ventura County for over 20 years.
Mr. Rosin served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a California Highway Patrol officer, retiring in 1981. He was an avid sailor and spent many hours on the ocean, having sailed from Mexico to California as well as traveling to many countries around the world. Among his many talents were model ship building and cooking, having been a chef in La Paz, Mexico, for several years.
He is survived by his son, Richard T. Rosin Jr., wife Dawn and their children, Zakary and Zoey, all of Oak View; daughter, Cynthia Kim Stokes, husband John and their children, Jeff Stokes, Marc Stokes, Sarah Toki and Amy Beesley of Rancho Cucamonga; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Vicki Gonzalez
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.

Today my daddy passed away, after a 2 year struggle with throat cancer. I was with him and he left this world in a peaceful state. He is in a much better place now. He will be greatly missed. My dad was not always the best example in my adult years, and we had a many a falling out. But with his near death experience 2 years ago, everything was put into the proper perspective. He realized family was important and he and I renewed our relationship as daddy-daughter and I am grateful for the time we had together. On Father's day, Sarah and Amy's families came over for a BBQ and fun. Their kids are so cute! It was a very nice father's day and all the dad's had a great day. It is really nice to honor the dad's on their special day. I am proud of my dad and my husband and what a fabulous dad he is, as well as granddad! I am proud and honored to have 4 great sons that are great examples to their children and are wonderful dads!!!! You guys are the best!

This is Sgt. John at the office. Another officer sent this to us and so I asked him if I could post it, and he said OK. He is the best ever. I still can't believe he going to retire soon, in 25 days! Summer should be fun! Someone, Becky I think, asked what we were going to do. Well, for starters, Jeff and Heather's family, Marc and Misty's family, along with the girls and their families are coming the 2nd week end in July for a retirement party I am giving him, and then I thought we may go up to Mammoth and fish and hike. Go cycling, go visit Marc and Misty, go to the beach. Just fun stuff!!!

This is how I feel now that Open House is done!! It went very well, I had 17 families out of 20 show up. that is a fabulous turnout. Everyone was very pleased with their kids work and all we did. I will take some pics tomorrow and put some up.

Well, I have not been on here for awhile. I have been very busy getting ready for Open House which is tonight. Thank heavens it's almost over!! I am so pooped! Just 16 more days and summer vacation!!! Ohhhh, I am soooo ready! Misty and the kids are coming down on Sat. and we are going to go see Wicked. Just us girls! That will be so much fun! This is a busy birthday month too. Tomorrow is Amy's, Friday is Zach's, and Heather's is on the 25th. Well, that is only 3, why did it seem so much a second ago? Anyway, I have to get ready to go back to school at 5, oh joy! John is retiring the end of this month and I he told me he is in denial. At least we now have the summer off together. If he worked, he wouldn't have any of it off. So I am happy about that. We have some fun things planned. Well, that's it for now. I know I need to get more pics on here. Soon! Later~

Well, I just changed my page, all by myself I might add, Sarah, aren't you so proud of me?? It's memorial day and that means another day off for me. I love my day offs!! We finally broke down and bought a new 52"flat screen TV. Yes, we are retiring the Hadfield TV. We bought our big screen TV from the Hadfields when they went on their mission in Chile. It's been 10 years! Our new addition will be delivered today sometime. We also bought a nice entertainment center to put it in. I will post a picture when it is all set up. Maybe. Today we are BBQing with our friends, Jim & Marie. All our kids are going somewhere else, whatever! Our weather this week end is a severe change from last week end. Cool and cloudy, drizzly. For Mother's day we went to John's brother's home in Apple Valley. They had two of their kids with families and we had our girls and their families. John's mom and my mom were there too. We had great food and a fun time! We also celebrated John's birthday. He was born on Mother's day! I am not sure if that would be fun or not. Probably would be OK. We went to see the musical "Mama Mia" today with Jim and Marie. It was fabulous and so fun. Loved the music and story line. I love going to see live performances. The only downfall was that John and I had to move over a few seats because, of course, smack dab in front of us were two 'guys', one being very intoxicated and wreaked to high heavens and then they were extremely 'friendly'. Marie and Jim didn't move with us and got the extra 'entertainment'. Anyway, after that we went to dinner for John's birthday. It was a great day!!

When I came home from work yesterday, this is what I saw. I don't see this sight very often, so I was very surprised to say the least. They are beautiful. Those of you who really know John, know that he just doesn't buy flowers, he usually says, I thought about buying you flowers, but then they just die. Anyway, later we are going to go see "Mama Mia" the musical. I am excited to go see it. We are going with our fab friends, Jim and Marie. It's John's birthday tomorrow and Mother's Day, so I figured we are killing two birds with one stone! AND next week is our anniversary! Going to go somewhere, just can't figure out where yet. Any suggestions????

Well, as most of you know, I teach kindergarden, and since we got back from spring break, my class seems to think they can do pretty much as they please. What is that about??? We are going to the zoo next Friday and I keep telling them that if they can't follow the rules here at school, then they can't go on a field trip with me. It doesn't seem to be working. There are a couple of them that are just trying my patience lately. Actually driving me nuts would be more correct. I still wouldn't trade kinder for anything though. I think it is the time of year and most of the teachers are complaining of the same thing. Well, here's to a better day tomorrow.

Yesterday I got a pix text from (I thought)Heather, but I think it was from Brittnie. It was a picture of some beautiful Mother's Day flowers. I called and Brittnie answered, and I told her the flowers were pretty, who gave them to your mom? She said, "Dad did." I told her that her mom was not Jeff's mom and asked her where my flowers were? She said without missing a beat, "On the phone!" Well, needless to say, she has the wit of her father! Then I talked to Heather and she told me how beautiful the flowers were and she loved them. She said she told Jeff that Mother's Day was next week. And Jeff, without missing a beat, said, "I know, they would cost twice as much next week." All we could say was, like father like son!

It's Monday and hot!! Sarah and Amy were over last night and I took some pictures, finally!! Anyway, the kids were like little vacumme cleaners, as far as food went.
