Early NAVY days, not too shabby
His love~ Sailing
In the woods somewhere up north
Today my daddy passed away, after a 2 year struggle with throat cancer. I was with him and he left this world in a peaceful state. He is in a much better place now. He will be greatly missed. My dad was not always the best example in my adult years, and we had a many a falling out. But with his near death experience 2 years ago, everything was put into the proper perspective. He realized family was important and he and I renewed our relationship as daddy-daughter and I am grateful for the time we had together. Things I remember doing with him as a little girl were; going on long motorcycle rides to the beach or the mountains, going golfing and being his 'caddy', going to the beach while he scuba dived, going with him to clean pools and then getting to swim in them when we were done. We never knew what kind of car he would come home in, he had this thing for cars and always was coming home with something new or old. I think we had every kind of car there was. He worked for the California Highway Patrol as a motor officer and he loved that, until he had to retire in 1981 from an on duty gunshot wound from 1968. I loved my dad even when he was not lovable at times, and I miss him and hope to see him again one day with the rest of my family that has gone on ahead. RIP Daddy!!! I will upload a picture of him as soon as I can get one on my computer.

So sorry to hear about your Dad, Kim. I know your relationship with him was strained at times, but I'm glad to hear that things between the 2 of you got resolved before he passed away. If there is anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to call me. We didn't make it to stake conference today - we've had kids since last Thursday, air conditioning went out, Brent's been on vacation, need I go on??? I tried calling you today after I read your post about your Dad, but no one answered, so just call me if you want or need anything, ok?
Love,
Gail
